Rise of the Rebellion
Force Training Variant
The purpose of this variant is to create a more dynamic environment for Force Sensitive characters wielding Force Powers. Moreover, it reserves Force Points for acts of heroism instead of replenishing depleted Force Power reserves.
Force Powers Known
Every time your character selects the Force Training feat, you gain your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) Force Powers known. You cannot select the same Force Power twice (there’s no mechanical benefit to doing so except taking up a slot that could provide access to an additional Force Power).
Force Powers per Encounter
The Force Training feat grants your character your Wisdom modifier +1 uses of Force Powers for each time the feat is taken per encounter. Your character may elect to use any known Force Power and each activation of a Force Power expends a single use. Spending a Force Point instead recovers one Force Power use which can be used to activate any known Force Power. Spending a Destiny Point recovers your Wisdom modifier +1 uses of Force Powers. Your character recovers all uses of Force Powers after approximately one minute of rest.
Sai Jaxx has a +4 Wisdom modifier and has elected to take Force Training 4 times. This means that he knows a grand total of 16 Force Powers and can use any of these Force Powers 20 times in a single encounter.
Less focus on budgeting Force Powers
More freedom to choose utility Force Powers that help develop your character
More high powered fighting between force users
Force users will fight at maximum efficiency throughout the entire encounter
More freedom to select Feats other than Force Training
(since it’s extremely unlikely you’ll actually need that many Force Powers in a single encounter… honestly I don’t blame you guys for selecting Force Training as much as you do, I would too with the rules the way they are, but I want to see your characters expand horizontally as well as vertically since there’s only two of you at present and I want bad guys to feel like more of a threat)
I’m pretty sure this will bowl over non-Force Users, but since everyone in the party is Force Sensitive now I’m alright with that
“Wearing out” Rebukes is now a long-term combat strategy with potentially lethal repercussions instead of a quick win
Force Training becomes slightly devalued when compared to itself since a character with a decent Wisdom score could potentially keep pace with a much more well-versed Force wielder assuming combat ends before their uses of Force Powers are exhausted
Some of the tactical gambling of arranging your Force Suite is removed
Telekinetic Savant: Once per encounter as a free action when you activate a force power with the Telekinetic descriptor, that force power does not consume a use of your per encounter force powers. You may select this feat multiple times, with each selection granting an additional use of this talent once per encounter. Core p.100
Force Focus: As a full round action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity, make a Use the Force check with a difficulty of 15. If you succeed, your character regains a single force power use plus an additional use for every 5 by which you exceed the DC (rounded down). Core p.101
Dark Side Savant: Once per encounter as a free action when you activate a force power with the Dark Side descriptor, that force power does not consume a use of your per encounter force powers. You may select this feat multiple times, with each selection granting an additional use of this talent once per encounter. Jedi Academy Training Manual p.16
Force Power Adept: You may spend a Force Point to reroll any Use the Force check to activate any force power once per encounter. This feat may be taken multiple times, with each additional instance granting another use of this talent once per encounter. Core p.214
Transfer Power: As a standard action, you may grant one of your force powers known to an ally within 12 squares until the end of the encounter. When the ally activates that Force Power, it expends a single use of their force powers per encounter as normal. Activating this talent also expends a single use of your force powers per encounter but you otherwise retain access to the transferred force power. Jedi Academy Training Manual p.24
Prepared For Danger: This talent is redundant and no longer needed.
